To Skychurch from Pickerington, If you would come to September Moon this year, three of the four people who were on that stuff will be there and can explain it to you in GRAPHIC DETAIL! J.D., Merle, and Clarence McGirr. Clarence and I, along with our late brother Michael Shortland (from Strongbow with Merle also) were Uncle Billy. Pretty good songs for the time, eh? Anyhow, Hope to see you at September Moon (usually in early October, for some confounded reason). Merle

Well, OK, the friends ask....on March 5, I got my right knee scoped. It was the worst thing I had ever been through, until May 6, when I got my left knee scoped....well, not quite as bad, but PFB. Now J.D.'s laughing his ass off. Damn. Anyhow, hoping to be MUCH better by September.

Sorry folks, I won't be at any of J.D.'s concerts for the next year. I'm on my way to Afghanistan on June the 10th. Got to stop these idoit's over there, so we can rock in peace over here! Who knows, maybe I'll write some interesting songs when I get back. J.D. said that he would love to go with me but, our uncle Sam said that he was too old! Damn! That would be fun too! Yall keep me in your prayers and your in mine! See ya next year. Rusty CCB!

JD: I could tell a few stories from back in the day and seeing the band several times - on a flatbed trailer in the parking lot of the Plaza Shopping Center in Lancaster, Ohio - I was the fresh-faced kid leaning against the trailer just underneath ya as you belted out some killer rock - or even the 12 hour Labor Day show at the athletic field at Lancaster High School that you headlined - wow, what a day and what a show. What I am intrigued about are several of the singles that came out early in yer career. For instance, the Philips single "Epitaph for A Head" - what an absolutely scintillating chunk of psychedelic rock that still floors me even today and how massively twisted and bent it is with its urgent rhythms and stellar vocal track. Even more so, what is the deal with the singles on the Blackfoot label - the black foot imprint that said "PEACE". What is the deal with those? I recently had the opportunity to turn an old friend from Frisco on to these singles and he was absolutely floored that such things existed and he had never even heard them - and he's been collectin' records ever since Jerry Garcia was still known as a jug band/bluegrass musician - well before the Dead stroked their first chords together. Would love to know the full story on all of this. Also got to meet ya at Bent Back Records in the 80's and you autographed my personal copy of Ultimate Prophecy - thanks. You made my youth so much more exciting. Peace, Joseph
